Appearance Tips & Tricks to Looking Younger

by Jeff Cans

When it comes to keeping up an appearance, let me be the first to say, aging doesn’t help. Looking young is harder each and every year. Even though I’m a woman, I understand that the same challenges come with being a man in the appearance category: It’s downright hard.

I just want you guys to understand it happens, it’s natural, and there are ways to combat it. That’s what I’m always here for; To help you guys and guide you guys in the right direction. Let’s get started with my exclusively picked out tips and tricks to get you on your way to looking younger!

  1. Sleep More

Think about it, fellas. When you lack adequate sleep, your eyes droop, your skin looks tired, and your actions are sluggish. Those circles under your eyes and that puffiness in your face does not make you look younger, at all. Don’t get discouraged, though. There is a solution, or should I say, solutions.

In order to get those necessary hours of sleep in and to produce enough hormones to have you acting normal, incorporate the following suggestions into your daily routine:

  • Make your mornings consistent, at least 90% of the time

This means you have to wake up at the same time on both weekdays and weekends. I understand it may be difficult, but try your best, no biggie if you skip a day and sleep in. Just try to make it a habit that you wake up at the same time each day. Specifically, make sure you wake up the same time each day no matter the time you go to bed the night before. This is crucial.

If you need to, take a nap later in the day.

  • Get rid of social media before bed

Put the phone or the laptop down. Get off social media. Go outside. Smell the roses. Do something other than browse the internet.

Plus, when you sleep less, you’re more likely to be distracted throughout the day with things such as social media. It’s just a vicious cycle that will keep happening to you.

  • Get rid of caffeine after 2 p.m.

Instead of caffeine, incorporate some sort of tea into your diet. Any caffeine after 2 p.m. can actually alter your sleep, considering it can take up to 10 hours for caffeine to completely leave your system.

  • Take a nice, hot shower right before bed

Taking a nice, hot shower right before bed will allow your body to naturally cool its body temperature faster, therefore allowing your body to prepare for sleep.

  1. Fast a few times a week

When I say fast, I mean intermittently. Cut back on your calories once or twice a week. This can be done easily by skipping breakfast, or simply by waiting until lunch to eat your first meal of the day. If you can’t do this, cut all snacks out and all drinks out. Stick to water and three healthy meals a day. If you have a gut, it will be gone in no time. Plus, it’s scientifically proven that your belly fat is the first to go.

When you’re fasting, stick to foods like hard boiled eggs, nuts, and leafy green vegetables.

  1. Keep your hair short

Keep your hair short, even if you’re going bald. Many barbers claim that growing hair out to make it look like there’s more there than there actually is makes you look older. Some barbers will even go as far to say it looks ‘wizardly.’

Just keep your hair nice, short, and clean. Style it if you have to, but don’t go over the top.

  1. Avoid cologne known as ‘old man’ cologne

If you don’t already know what ‘old man’ cologne smells like, don’t worry, I’ll gladly tell you. Scents that resemble leather, spice, pepper, and florals should be avoided. Get with what’s new and in-date by buying the scents that resemble citrus and woodsy smells. Your local cologne department can help you find the perfect scent.

  1. Add more turmeric to your meals

Turmeric is a magical spice that can help you in the long run with your aging issues. As a matter of fact, turmeric helps the body with two essential aspects that make you look younger, those being oxidation and inflammation. By ensuring your body is properly oxidized and by helping calm down inflammation, turmeric is the perfect herb. All you have to do is pick your meal, sprinkle some on, and eat up. Turmeric goes great with eggs.

  1. Think about the facial hair you have

Or should I say rethink the facial hair you have. Think about it. When you were younger, and you were the first person to grow a beard in your class, you looked a lot older than everyone else. And, when you were behind schedule and unable to grow a beard like everyone else in your class, you looked a hell of a lot younger than everybody. The same goes for facial hair when you’re older; If you have a lot of it, you’ll look older. If you go clean shaven, you’ll look younger.

  1. Trim those eyebrows

I understand it may sound girly but toss that idea in the barrel. Having bushy eyebrows actually makes you look tired and a lot older.

Instead, be sure to brush your eyebrows upward when they start looking a little too bushy. Then, trim some extra-long hairs so that they don’t look too big and bulky.

And that’s all the tips and tricks I have for you fellas for now. Until next time!
