You may not have wanted anything to do with planning the wedding, probably because you don’t have a preference as to what color scheme is used or as to what flowers are placed in vases to be the centerpiece of each table. The wedding shenanigans are not what you’re most interested in, to say the least.
On the other hand, there is something related to the wedding that you are interested in planning: The honeymoon. I mean, let’s be honest, going on your honeymoon is probably the most exciting part about getting married guys. You get to go to an amazing place, filled with amazing adventures, with the amazing love of your life. You get to celebrate your marriage for a week, maybe even longer. And, if you do it right, this will be the only honeymoon you’ll ever go on, so you need to make it epic.
With that being said, I’d like to give you some options for your honeymoon (especially for those of you who are interested in having a fair share of romance and adventure). Check them out below!
Tanzania
Go on a sustainable safari!
I already know your automatic response to that suggestion: safaris are a little scary, and you’d probably prefer not going on one. However, a sustainable safari is extremely different than a normal safari. Let me explain.
Sustainable safari’s benefit the people, the animals, and the surrounding areas of the dessert. Specifically speaking, one of the highest-rated safari outfitters known as Deep Africa makes it their mission to fund local projects and invest in their local communities to have such sustainable safaris readily available to people of all ages. This specific group is found in Tanzania.
Basically what I’m trying to say here is that going on a sustainable safari won’t make you feel guilty, as it’s not ruining anyone’s environment.
The best time to go on this honeymoon adventure would be between the months of June and October.
Costa Rica
For those of you honeymooners out there that absolutely love adventure, my suggestion to you is to head on down to Costa Rica to go zip-lining through the jungle.
I’m pretty sure I don’t have to say this, but I’ll say it anyway: Costa Rica is extremely ripe for exploration. Not only is the greenery beautiful, but the animals are magnificent.
So, get yourself to a tall tree and jump off it! On the way down, you’re likely to encounter, and come face-to-face with, monkeys, toucans, and sloths. Then, after your time in the forest with the animals and your honey, head over to the famous Tulemar Resort, where countless couples have nestled together to have intimate privacy.
The best time to visit Costa Rica is sometime between December and April.
Tofino, British Columbia
Tofino is best known as Canada’s “surf capital,” and with good reason. According to many adventure-seeking people, Tofino is home to one of the best surfing places in the world.
What’s the best part of going here to surf on your honeymoon? You don’t have to know the sport! That’s all because there are plenty of surfer schools in the immediate area that are ready and willing to teach you and your partner just how to get the hang of the activity. Most classes last approximately 3 hours.
I would advise visiting Tofino between the months of August and October, as it will give you the best surfing conditions.
Hokkaido, Japan
Hokkaido is Japan’s northernmost island, and it just so happens to be one of the best places to ski. Ever.
Every year, this magical place is bombarded with approximately 190 inches of snow. Plus, the snowfall is always consistent, therefore making skiing conditions heavenly.
What’s the added bonus? Honeymooners can stay in nearby resorts and fall asleep aside the beautiful view of the mountains. Curling up near a nice warm fire with a cup of hot chocolate (or alcoholic hot chocolate) never seemed more glorious. Plus, the Niseko Northern Resort is right next door, and it has a full spa and natural hot springs.
You’ll have the most fun at this honeymoon place if you go between the months of January and March.
Atacama Desert, Chile
The Atacama Desert is approximately 600 miles long, and it’s filled with unique excursions. The most popular of the options are as follows: Visitors are likely to take a hike along the desert, go horseback riding through the terrain, or rent a desert bike for the day and go wild.
The best times to go on this honeymoon vacation would be between the months of September and November or between the months of March and May.
Cappadocia, Turkey
Cappadocia, Turkey is home to an exciting honeymoon experience: Riding in a hot air balloon. Most experiences start with the hot air balloon ride in the morning, and the rest of the day is usually comprised of walks through the centuries-old caves and hikes through the famous open-air museum they have there. The day starts right before the sun rises so that all hot air balloon riders are up high in the sky when the sun starts to peak through.
I’d recommend going to this awesome place during the months of April and June, as the sunrises are more on the warm side.
Antarctica
If you live to be in cold environments and you’re dying to cuddle up to your spouse on your honeymoon, head to Antarctica for a cruise. Don’t be surprised when it takes a while to get to this cold, yet pretty amazing, place. In other words, only have this as an option for your honeymoon getaway if you have a few weeks to spare, as you don’t want to get to the place and then have to leave a few days later.
The cruise options vary. You can take a short cruise to cross the Arctic Circle, you can take a medium-timed cruise and explore the peninsula, or you can take a rather long cruise and meet up with some penguins, seals, and whales.
Book your Antarctica honeymoon between the months of January and March for the best experience.
Galapagos Islands
If you’re all about nature, the Galapagos Islands is the place to be for your honeymoon.
Why? Well, probably because these islands are filled with wildlife, including but not limited to, tortoises, seals, and penguins.
What’s the best part about this vacationing spot? The animals have no natural predators on the islands, so they’re more than happy to come up to you and make your acquaintance. You’ll even be able to scuba dive aside some of these wonderful animals.
Head on over to these magical islands between the months of December and May.
Snowmass, Colorado
If you love being secluded in the mountains with your other half, Snowmass, Colorado is the place to be. Some of the hotels in the area even offer cool adventure options such as boarding a Piper Aircraft to fly across the Rockies; they like to call this the moonlit flight (and you’ll know just why if you head on down to Colorado for your honeymoon). There’s also the obvious exploration and mountain biking available as additional experiences.
There’s no better time to visit this honeymoon destination than between the months of September and November.
Rangiroa, French Polynesia
If you’re a true diver at heart, there’s no better place than Rangiroa to go. You’ll be able to swim in waters filled with tropical fish, stingrays, dolphins, and so much more.
What could make this even better? Well, knowing that the island has only about 3,000 people living on it, of course. This means that you’ll feel as if you and your spouse have the place all to yourself.
The best time to visit this awesome place would be between the months of June and August.
